Isle Of Man (30 mei)

IomGisteravond speelde The Who op het Isle Of Man.

Setlist:

I Can’t Explain
The Seeker
Substitute
Fragments
Who Are You
Behind Blue Eyes
Real Good Looking Boy
Relay
Baba O’ Riley
Eminence Front
Man In A Purple Dress
The Real Me
You Better You Bet
My Generation / Cry If You Want
Won’t Get Fooled Again
Encore:
The Kids Are Alright
Pinball Wizard
Amazing Journey / Sparks
See Me Feel Me
Tea and Theatre

Reacties van fans:
"The crowd were well up for it and more than a handfull were told to sit down. The place didn’t rebel until My Generation, when there was a rush to stand, fill the ailes, dance and generally be fucking raucus. It was heaven. Just like the old days of concert-going"
"The band were steaming and particulary Pete. Rog’s voice was spot on for the most of it. Dont know what happened for him to cancel Jools Holland’s show, but he seemed ok last night. Different set to Birmingham. Mini-opera gone. RGLB and Substitute back in. TKAA was the first song of the encore (fu
ll band) One of the biggest crowd pleasers was YBYB. I’m sure there was another song that was different but guess what? Yup, cant remember!"

"The cost of food & drink inside the stadium is outrageous. Can someone explain to me how on a match day watching Hull City a pint of beer is xc2xa32.60 but for a concert you get charged xc2xa33 for a small bottle?, talk about being ripped off!"

"The price is WAY to high. I went to Bryan Adams at Sheffield and that was 35, and I didnt get to see a dot on the stage. I find it hard to understand how KC lost money! A pint of bitter and J2O cost me xc2xa35.40!! Looking at the amount people were drinking, the bar profits must have been enormous!"

"Very poor marketing is to blame, the Stadium Management Committee need to take a good look at themselves. The Sunday papers had an advert for The Who tour every week but Hull wasn’t listed, why was that? If you expect people to come you’ve got to advertise it properly and not just blame peoples apathy"

"It is a pity that the marketing people did not put in as much energy or effort into the event! (…) I am amazed that there was no advertisement in towns such as Lincoln, Doncaster, Grimsby or Wakefield all of which are within easy reach of Hull. In the future the organisers have to get their act together to bring in the crowds, or could it be they don’t want to bring this sort of event to the city and would love to see them fail?"

"Looking in the music press over the weeks all other dates were given advertising except HULL. I was at one time wondering if the show had been cancelled The publicity UK wide, and as people have said before locally need to be improved"

"So many tickets not sold, why? Because of the lack of advertising. I searched the National Press for several weeks prior, and did not see any form of advertising for the gig. This happens every time, just like the recent cancellation of the Party in the Park at East Park Hull. The reason the organisers gave then was that they wanted to see what the responce to the gig in the park was going to be before they commited themselves to the cost of marketing it"

Over het concert dat The Who gaf, niks dan lof overigens.

Hull (26 mei)

"It was GREAT! Relay was a highlight for me!"
"Terrific gig thouroughly enjoyed it the sound was superb just loud enough ….. thats without 5.15 Naked eye and wire n glass though could understand why no latter as it was pi**ing down think the band went for more greatest hits set. We got Substitute !! and a blistering Relay and Baba was top notch also a very good emminence front which I have always liked! The crowd were a little subdued no doubt coz of the weather. As the dusk fell the crowd were more up for it and in places it was bouncing"
"Excellent gig – sounded superb. They nailed The Real Me – not normally one of my favourites to hear live but this version rocked. Biggest cheers were for Baba & My Generation. Won’t Get Fooled Again – everyone seemed to go mental. Bit disappointed that there was no mini opera or Pete solo spot. Surprised the gig started so early – 8:10 – it had finished by 10:00. Oh, and it rained"

Dit meldt The Northern Echo. De opbrengsten zullen gaan naar jonge kankerpatixc3xabntjes in die regio. In het Royal Victory Infirmary in Newcastle, waar The Who gisteren optrad, wordt momenteel een nieuwe zaal gebouwd, gefinancierd door TCT. Die zal later dit jaar geopend worden.

The Who zal overigens niet optreden op Bandstand 2007. "I’m not working this year. I’ll come and do some acoustics. Pete’s doing nothing. He is welcome too."

Reacties van fans:
"A great show, although when the band walked on stage Pete looked pissed off, I thought that would put a damper on the night, but thankfully I was wrong.  Pete was having tuning trouble with all of his guitars all night, probably due to the excessive heat,  the heat was mentioned by both Pete & Roger.  The volume seemed to be causing Pete some ear pain, as on several occaisions he could be clearly seen to grimace & signal Bob Pridden to adjust his volume or monitors"
"Pete’s power chording was as great & powerful as ever. Roger was full of patter & to me his vocals sounded great"
"At Newcastle I thought Rog got p’d off that people were whistling/clapping during Tea and Theatre – he motioned a few times for people to be quiet but gave up after a minute. The noise did detract from the song. At sheffield you could hear a pin drop during this song and it was a spine tingling moment….Rog’s voice on top form, one spotlight, everyone quiet.."
"I have to say WAG ROCKED !!! it really needs to be played live….Fragments doesnt float my boat, but almost all of WAG is fantastic"

Sheffield (23 mei)

Pete reageerde met: "Although you are a bit quiet, I can feel the warmth".

Reacties van fans:
"Another great show, although I enjoyed Brum the night before more….mainly cos I was near the front for that gig, I was high up on Pino’s side last night, where the audience were more restrained ..at least for most of the set. Played WAG again"."
"I thought the setlist was an excellent overview – a few surprises the return of RGLB -which I really like, and didn’t expect to be back into the set. WAG has evolved so much since Leeds Uni last year and is a real cornerstone of the set.  I’m One / Man in a Purple Dress was a real highlight – It’s been years since I’ve seen I’m One live and it is still amazing, and going into MIAPD (the best song Pete has written since the 70s), was a real show stopper. Real Me was excellent and was seriously aggressive and nasty – just how it should be"
"The absolute joy was hearing WAG played live-it was done really well and I just hope the guys persist with it. Also "I’m One" was outstanding!"
"I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO EMBARRASSED IN ALL MY LIFE ! MAY MY GOD STRIKE ME DEAD ! 10,000 PEOPLE SAT THERE LIKE THEY WERE WATCHING FUCKIN’ TV. ! I KID YOU NOT ! I looked around and NOT ONE PERSON as far as they eye could see got up out of their seats until they played BOR. I SWEAR ON MY LIFE ! I looked around and I was that incensed that I took my Yorkshire flat cap off and screamed at the audience "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU !?  I HAVE NEVER seen a Who gig like it in my life ! After about half way though it got that embarrassing that it ‘almost’ became funny ! I SWEAR to ya ! Direct eye contact between myself Roger and Pete….I took my hat off and shook my head, Pete drop his arms with his palms out stretched and shrugged his shoulders and it literally went on like that all night in semaphore signals. My friend Rich who has never seen the Who before kept on poking’ me in the ribs and saying’ such stuff as "They’re talkin’ to us… arn’t they !?" YEP! EVENTUALLY ! They won the audience over. However, they fought for ever inch of em ! FUCK THE REST OF EM ! I had a great time ! I played my part to the full. My voice is shot to bits and I ache all over !"

Concert Antwerpen verplaatst
