Concert Roger in Nashville (30 oktober)

Without Your Love werd opgedragen aan alle fans.

"Every song he would introduce with a story, and he talked so much! It was so strange.. it was as if the audience had become one and he was talking directly to each and every one of us. He was so open with the audience, and so raunchy! When it got to "Ring of Fire", he wanted the women to sing on the second chorus, guys on the third. To the girls he said. "I’ll lead you down, just the way I like ya"…  *fans self* ".
"Roger sounded fantastic as did the band. He was in a very happy mood and was very, very chatty – nice to see his personality shine through outside of The Who. The set list was pretty close to other shows … however, we did get Tattoo and Naked Eye and a bonus of a short, but awesome, My Generation, acoustic and bluesy! "
"After an hour onstage he seemed to fatigue a bit, and began making playlist and lyrical errors a couple times, but nothing that detracted from the event. He was very self effacing about this. Squeezebox was fun, as it included verses sung by both the women, then the men in the audience, then everyone together".
"The other great thing about the concert was getting to hear Roger’s take on the mood and thoughts behind the songs he played. For me, the best, and most moving, was his story on the recording of "Behind Blue Eyes". Roger told of how his dog had been run over and killed the morning of the recording, and how he took the sadness and anger over the loss and put it into the song
".

"This was probably the most therapeutic conversation we had with anyone since our son was diagnosed. Our son is doing much better physically, but hexe2x80x99s not the same kid. Therexe2x80x99s an anguish associated with the disease that teens, especially, need to deal with. Bad things happen to them when it comes to drinking and drugs and isolation. The hospital may be good at curing, but they provide no psychological counseling. No one in this country seems to understand that, but Roger Daltrey does", aldus Joe. "Besides close family, there arenxe2x80x99t too many people who actually care. But here you have this total stranger who does".

Een vriend van Roger uit Florida kijkt niet vreemd op van Roger’s gebaar: "Thatxe2x80x99s Roger, he wants to change the world one person at a time".

Reacties van fans:
"He was AMAZING! His voice was in unbelievable form. The evening was made even better by the background stories he shared between songs. He sang tirelessly for a full 2 hours".
"He was completely engaged with the audience by sharing personal insight of each song. The songs are ageless and still as powerful as ever. I needed a cigarette after Baba O’Riley…and I don’t smoke. Blue, Red & Grey was beautiful. Simon Townsend on Going Mobile was AMAZING".

Over Elvis, Johnny Cash en Roy Orbison: "Johnny Cash was one of my main early influences after Elvis. Since Johnny died, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of people doing his stuff, so I thought it might be fun. I’ve kind of uncovered a few Who songs that I could translate that way so I might do that. Boy, I would like to do those songs. Roy Orbison songs as well, because he’s another idol of mine, someone I always looked up to as a singer, I used to sing his songs when I was younger".

Over Endless Wire: ""Endless Wire" – it keeps going down a new road. Things like "Two Thousand Years," "Black Widow’s Eyes," "Mike Post Theme," they certainly had something different going on in them, a new direction. Then again, there were other things on there like the mini opera ("Wire & Glass") which were just as traumatic to the voice as the old ones.."

Over Woodstock: "I thought we were crap. When we were on, there were no monitors and everything was starting to break down. Everyone was struggling to the point of exhaustion. The soundmen were on their last acid trip of the week. It was pretty crap, I thought, but there was something else going on that was electric that surpassed what the music was doing".

We were toying with an idea about the High Numbers. The songs we used to play before Pete used to write. That still may happen. But at the moment Pete is working on demos and hopefully we’ll be recording in December and January, ready for touring next year. We hope to present a lot more of our work next year. Keep the show we’ve got now but re-present "Quadrophenia" and "Tommy" and those kind of thing".

Over het computerspel Rock Band: "The game, yeah, yeah, they’re going to be doing a Who one next year. There is one planned. The idea is fabulous. Anything that gets non-musical people interested in music is wonderful. In my opinion, music is our last true great freedom. They can burn our books, they can burn our paintings, but they can’t stop us singing and making music".

Wat wil hij bereiken met zijn tour? "I want everybody to have a great time and tocome back with a set of great pipes for the new Who recordand I’ll be very happy with that. And hopefullywe’ll send some people home smiling"
