Concert Roger in New York (20 november)

Eergisteren gaf Roger een optreden in het Nokia Times Square in New York City. Roger had tijdens de show last van een paar raddraaiers."Shut the fuck up! If you don’t want to hearsomeone talk go and watch Madonna, she doesn’t talk to the crowd atall. Go listen to your ipod. You should come up here so I can take careof you. Even though I am 65 I could still put you in your place!", riep Roger.

"All in all, I enjoyed it MUCH more than I expected. I wasn’t too gung ho to check it out to be honest but I am glad I did. Roger is the burning flame in The Who and the biggest fan of the band and he still has it"
"He scolded the people standing in the front at least twice forsmoking mother nature, saying that he was allergic to it now, and thatit would mess up his voice and cause him to have to stop the show"

Roger schrijft zijn memoires

NME meldt dat Roger zijn herinneringen op papier gaat zetten. "I’m thinking about a biography now. It’s probably time. Just the story of my life and the things I’ve done, you know, it’s kind of interesting", aldus Roger tijdens een interview voor RockRadio. "And when I look at the juxtapositions of things xe2x80″ you know, like being the singer in The Who to being a fish farmer, and being a film star to being a beef farmer, there’s all these swings and roundabouts in my life that are so juxtaposed. They were interesting times. And it wasn’t all fun, but there was an awful lot of fun. The only trouble is, the people usually want the salacious crap and I don’t know if I’m prepared to dig that, you know?".

Rolling Stone bevestigt optreden Super Bowl

"Roger talked about singing at the sheet metal factory, encouraged us to find songs we like and just sing, not to worry about how it sounds, itxe2x80x99ll do us good. Said singing has made him happier and helped him get through more than anything else in his life. His sincerity was very touching"
"Not only Roger but the band seemed to be having a good time throughout. Simon in particular was rockinxe2x80x99 HARD, stomping in his combat boots, literally dripping sweat onto the stage, coming right up to the edge and smiling at us

Interview met Roger

Ft Myers Magazine heeft een interview met Roger geplaatst, gehouden vlak voordat de tour startte. Hij legt nog maar eens uit waarom hij deze tour doet: "I just want to keep singing and The Who is going to be off this year so I have to do something. Singers need to work. Ixe2x80x99m not like a guitarist, I canxe2x80x99t change strings. So how else do I do that outside of The Who? So I decided to form a band and go out on tour. Itxe2x80x99s something Ixe2x80x99ve been doing my whole life. If I stopped now it would be over within a year because of the age that Ixe2x80x99m at. You canxe2x80x99t really have that much time off really without the voice suffering".

Over zijn helden: "[Johnny Cash], Elvis, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry and Little Richard were the first people that I liked in the business and I love singing Johnny Cash. Itxe2x80x99s the man more than the music. I love xe2x80x98Ring Of Fire.xe2x80x99 I donxe2x80x99t know why, but you play it to an audience and they immediately start singing it. It always makes for a good time and thatxe2x80x99s always what Ixe2x80x99m interested in doing.xe2x80x9d

Over een nieuw album: "Well, allegedly. I take that with a grain of salt. All I know is Pete is always working out and thinking things over in his head and one day whatever hexe2x80x99s up to will emerge. But in the meantime we just have to be patient and waitxe2x80x9d

Over het Concert for New York City in 2001, wat tevens het laatste Amerikaanse optreden met John bleek: "It was hard, it was such an emotional night. Emotional just looking at the first five rows of people. You could see the kids wearing their dadxe2x80x99s firefighter helmets and their dads were killed. It was hard to hold it together, Ixe2x80x99ll put it that way. It was the first time they had a chance to let their hair down after breathing in all that stuff. It was tough. We do what we do xe2x80″ which is play rock xe2x80x98nxe2x80x99 roll xe2x80″ and tried to make it uplifting for those people, their family and friends working in that crap".
